Ascend Psychology Parramatta is a small private practice committed to providing high quality and evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a range of clients from children to adults with various presentations.
Ascend Psychology Parramatta offers a range of services for children and adolescents; our services primarily involve a two-step process which includes 1) a comprehensive assessment of the child or teen via various methods (such as parent and/child interviews, standardised assessment tools, school observations (if necessary)). Liaison with teacher/s and other relevant third parties (e.g., Paediatricians, school counsellors) are also initiated to obtain a greater breadth of information, 2) an evidence-based approach to treatment which is tailored to the individual needs and strengths of the child or teen, includes a team approach with parents and other significant personnel which may be helpful to include in treatment (e.g., other siblings, teacher/school, Paediatricians, GPs).
We offer diagnostic assessments and evidence-based interventions for the following clinical presentations: •Autism Spectrum Disorders •Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) •Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) •Conduct Disorder •Anxiety (e.g., fears/worries, panic attacks, generalised anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder) •Mood problems (e.g., sadness/depression) •High-risk behaviours (e.g., suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviours (such as cutting, scratching)) •Eating Disorders (e.g., Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia) •Adjustment difficulties (e.g., parent separation, relationship break-up, parent illness/death) •Mild-to-moderate intellectual disability
We also offer assessments and interventions for the following child and adolescent presentations: •Emotional dysregulation (e.g., anger, temper tantrums) •Behaviours of concern (e.g., aggression, defiance, argumentative) •School transition/School refusal •Sleep problems (e.g., delayed sleep onset, night-time awakenings) •Social skills difficulties (e.g., difficulties making friends, bullying concerns) •Adolescent health issues (e.g., drug or alcohol use, sexual health concerns) Our main focus is to provide our clients the opportunity to improve their psychological health and well-being. This can be achieved by working collaboratively with our psychologist to share, develop and learn skills and strategies to tackle everyday problems.
